A PLACE FOR OUR CHILDREN TO PLAY
We are so grateful to have the ability to offer an after school program for the children of our community. We believe it is important for children to have a place to unwind after their school day and interact with other children in a safe environment.
For the 2018-2019 school year, our program is available Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm and is for elementary and middle school aged children. We encourage homeschooled children to participate, and have a bus stop from East Grand School District as well. No After School Program when school is not in session.
What We Offer
Children from East Grand School District, including Indian Peaks Charter School, can ride the school bus to our location at 301 Marina Dr, Grand Lake. The rooster and cat buses are scheduled for this stop. Home schooled children who do not ride the bus can simply be dropped off at our front doors between 4:45 and 5:00pm. When they arrive, the kids check in with a staff member or volunteer, wash their hands, and head to the art room for snack time. Thank your Grand Lake Rotary and Grand Lake Fire Protection District for funding the snacks we provide!
After finishing their snack, the children have 2 rooms to play in: The art room has various arts and crafts projects (donations needed), and the game room is fully equipped with Foosball, air hockey, ping pong, a pool table and more! Some days we will also play in the gymnasium or outside on the playground.
This walk-in style program doesn’t require pre-registration, but parents will be given a short registration form and waiver when they arrive for pick up.
Our Activities Coordinator is a licensed substitute teacher and is certified in CPR and First Aid.
Want to Help?
The After School Program is in need of donations of art and craft items, or assistance in funds to purchase such items, suitable for K-8th grade use. Coloring books, glue, washable paint and paintbrushes, colored pencils and markers, kids craft kits (like what you might find on oriental trading or a craft store), and plastic table cloths are all good donations.
We are also seeking volunteers to help with supervision during the program from 4:30 – 6:00pm. Let us know if you are interested! Having a background working with children is useful, but not necessary. The Town of Grand Lake and The Grand Lake Center reserve the right to ask for a background check from all volunteers.
Thank you for supporting the Grand Lake Center!
